About our school

COLLINS CREEK PUBLIC SCHOOL

We are a small school located 17km north of Kyogle, in a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. We regularly see local native wildlife,  including koalas, wallabies, sugar gliders and kookaburras enjoying our school grounds.

Our small class sizes allow students to receive greater teacher interaction and individualised attention, enabling a more flexible, instructional approach to teaching and learning, whilst increasing student engagement.

We have a strong environmental focus, seeking grants to run Eco studies of our local native wildlife, teaching sustainability, gardening, recycling and environmental responsibility. Our beautiful school site helps to support students' appreciation and respect of our local environment.

Coding and robotics programs are taught as part of our IT curriculum, for students of all ages. Additionally, healthy eating and exercise is promoted daily, through our Healthy Crunch and Sip partnership with "Live Life Well' and our membership in the Premier's 10 week Sporting Challenge. Morning fitness sessions are also part of our daily routine.

We employ a local professional musician & music teacher who delivers a unique, creative program, inspiring children to learn a variety of instruments, read and write their own music pieces and perform each year.  Creative and performing arts is also delivered through an imaginative and creative drama program, where each student is encouraged to be part of the collaborative process and use their strengths to create plays that they perform during the year.

We are a proud member of the COLOURSS (Community of Learners of Upper Richmond Small Schools) group of four small schools, socialising and learning together throughout the year. Joining in on Science days, art exhibitions, Cultural Days, sporting events, excursions etc, which provides opportunities for students to form close relationships, that see them into their high school years and beyond.

We are linked to our local high school, Kyogle High, through their KEEP sessions (Kyogle Enrichment & Engagement Program) for our senior students. We are also partners in guiding children's behaviour and follow the Positive Behaviour for Learning process (PBL), which is run through many NSW schools. PBL improves social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for students through developing their understanding of how to be respectful, responsible and safe as learners and in their interactions with others.

Our dynamic and committed P & C are a driving force for our school community. Parents and Carers involvement in our school is welcomed and appreciated. The P & C support the school by providing home cooked canteen lunches each week, volunteering themselves as drivers for our excursions, raising money to support our children's learning needs, reading with our children and assisting with creative activities, such as sewing, gardening and cooking.

Kindergarten Orientation takes place during Term 4 each year, introducing our new students and parents to our beautiful school, friends and families. Orientation facilitates a smooth transition into school life and allows children to form friendships and familiarity, supporting the start of their journey into primary school.

Please call to make an appointment for a tour of our school and meet our friendly and passionate staff.
